QUEENSLAND SEED TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY


 








GENERAL INFORMATION

The Queensland Seed Technology Laboratory, located on the campus of the University of Queensland at Gatton, is a technical facility specializing in the testing of seed for quality characteristics required by the sowing seed and allied businesses in Australia.

The laboratory is a member of, and accredited with the International Seed Testing Association, the peak global seed quality diagnostics organization.

Accreditation indicates proven technical conformance to the ISTA accreditation standard which is based on the international ISO17025 standard. This designates the laboratory as a facility having technical competence to world’s best practice.

With this qualification QSTL is permitted to issue ISTA international certificates of analysis for seed entering international trade, and to undertake analysis on imported seed for the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, AQIS, under quarantine legislation.

WHAT TESTING SERVICES DOES QSTL OFFER TO CUSTOMERS?

  • An ISTA accredited seed testing facility.
  • Seed quality evaluation for tropical, sub-tropical and temperate species, including forage, field crop, vegetable, flower and tree seeds.
  • Testing for germination, purity, seed moisture, vigour, seed health, viability (topographical tetrazolium) seed weight and other tests on request.
  • Quarantine testing for seed exports and imports.
  • ISTA Orange and Blue international analysis certificates for seed export.
  • A seed identification service utilizing the large seed laboratory reference collection of tropical and subtropical seed.
  • Priority service and priority price contracts with customers.
