STIA SERVICES

Queensland Seed Technology Laboratory (AUDL02)

STIA operates the Queensland Seed Technology Laboratory (QSTL) located at the Gatton campus of the University of Queensland, under an agreement between STIA and the University of Queensland.

QSTL is accredited by the International Seed Testing Association, and authorised to issue ISTA seed analysis certificates for export seed lots.

QSTL also has an important role in quarantine testing for seed imports and exports, and maintains a collection of 18,000 accessions of seeds of tropical and temperate species on behalf of the Queensland DPI.

QSTL staff have expertise in testing seeds of both tropical and temperate species, and QSTL offers seed testing services to farmers, seed producers and commercial clients throughout Australia.

Training

Since 2001, STIA has run an Australian Seed Industry Training Course at Gatton which covers the areas of seed production, seed quality and post-harvest seed technologies.

STIA can offer training in seed analysis and any aspects of seed technology for both national and international clients.

STIA’s linkage with the School of Agronomy and Horticulture of the University of Queensland provides opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate training in seed technology.
